Absolutely useless or just very coolWhattle is the name of a piece of flesh and/or skin which hangs from the throat of some species of birds (very typical for male chickens) and some mammals (like goats) and can have many different forms. The whattle of chickens and many other kind of birds, is typically of a red colour and is most likely used to lure attractive female chickens which find this whattle very impressive. Apparently female chickens can not resist a man with huge red dimorphed pieces of skin hanging from its face.Even more "spectacular", if you will, are the whattles found on domesticated goats. They look like hanging pieces of furry snot growing from the throat of the creature. This type of whattles can also be found on certain species of domesticated pigs (like the Kune Kune), in which case the whattles are known as "Pire Pire". The exact use of these whattle is not clear, and many people believe that whattles on goats or pigs are actually completely useless. Unlike with birds, goat whattles or pig whattles can be found on both males and femaleÕs, which is even more evidence pointing in the direction that a whattle on pigs or goats make compeltely no sense at all. Whattle is sometimes also used as a name for the hanging pieces of skin that can be found on old men and women. This, however, isnÕt cool, but tragic and gross. ![]() |
